Winter mountain Skills & Snow hole experience

Three days of specialist training teaching you how to survive in the freezing mountains - including a night outdoors you'll never forget

23rd - 25th february 2018

Join us for an unforgettable winter adventure. Learn the skills needed to navigate snow-filled terrain and survive in the freezing mountains, then test your new skills with a night in a snow hole.

Your winter mountain training and mini-expedition takes you deep into the awe-inspiring Cairngorms - considered the most hostile part of the British Isles and tougher than some arctic regions.

Over three-days of training and adventure, you’ll learn a range of cold-weather skills for the outdoors - Before setting off, you’ll learn about safe winter travel, weather charts and forecasting avalanches. Then, you’ll head into the wild for a day’s practical coaching; our winter skills course in Scotland covers all the essentials - from ice axes and crampons to winter navigation and interpreting snow-packs - with specialist equipment provided.

Days two and three of our winter skills course take place on the high plateau. First, you’ll conquer one of the Cairngorm’s many 4000ft mountains. Then, you'll learn to correctly dig a snow-hole where you'll spend the night above the 1000 metre mark. You’ll need your rest, because on day three the training continues. What’s more, you’ll get to test your newly acquired winter navigation skills as you tackle another of Scotland's 4000 ft mountains while making your way back to base.
