Lairig Ghru Trek & Wild camping Experience

Explore Scotland’s longest mountain pass and experience the Cairngorm’s incredible wildlife and scenery. Join us for three-days of training and adventure, while wild camping in the Lairig Ghru.

Your expedition starts in the ancient Caledonian forests of Rothiemurcus. From there, the Lairig Ghru cleaves a path between Britain’s highest peaks - rising to 835 meters. Before setting off, you’ll plan for your trip under expert guidance. You'll be taught about navigation and specialist equipment - with instruction on clothing, sleeping systems and safe water procurement. Your first day ends with you wild camping in the high treeline -enjoying a relaxed evening around your camp fire after a stunning day’s trek.

The next day you set off through remote, rocky terrain for the Pools of Dee. Passing beneath Britain’s 2nd highest peak, Ben Macdhui, and the great corries of Brairiach and Carn Toul. Again, the second day comes to an end with you wild camping. This time deep in the heart of the Cairngorms where you’ll be taught more outdoor skills.

Your final day is a leisurely walk until the Lairig Ghru becomes engulfed by crags and mountains. Eventually, this rugged scenery gives way to rolling hills and a final trek alongside the River Dee. There, you’ve a good chance of spotting red deer before reaching the Linn of Dee, and the end of your three day’s hiking Scotland’s longest and arguably most dramatic mountain pass.
